Draconic Designs

Cyborware Installation Facility

Cybernetic-biological soft and hardware, or cyborware for short, is a main component of life in Star City. Cyborware is the term used to describe the modifications made to one's body that include semi-organic, semi-robotic installations. Cyborware can range from the highly practical (an extra set of eyelids to see while flying in sandstorms) to the highly cosmetic (tubes that jut from ones back and glow in various colors).

Anyone can have cyborware installed for a price, be they dragons or humanoids, though if they don't receive their 'ware from a licensed installer, they risk irreparable bodily damage. Most dragons have their cyborware installed once they reach their physical maturity so that growth spurts don't distort their installations! In some cases, it's possible to manipulate 'ware onto or into a maturing fetus, though this can be risky and has resulted in deformations in the past.

The facility to which Destiny-born dragons can go to trade their gift tokens is called Draconic Designs. The facility specializes in dragon-sized 'ware and is on pension from the city for their services, so when you go in you don't need to pay a thing but your token! Walking into the facility is rather like walking into a hospital crossed with a mechanic's depot with a little bit of tattoo parlor for ambience.

Invented candidates and other non-adopted-dragon sorts are free to have cyborware installations done to them. This is a story-allowance only. If you are an artist, you can draw your 'wared-up character, too, but you may NOT edit your own dragons!

Some people like to include bits of story about their dragon getting their 'ware installed, though this is not required. If you are so inclined as to do the same, you can click the links below to read about the folks you might meet in the facility.

Past Requests
See what other people have done with their tokens, and maybe get ideas!

Token Equivalency
1 Moderate token = 2 Minor tokens
1 Major token = 1 Moderate token and 1 Minor token = 3 Minor tokens

Restrictions
Xenodragons can only receive Accessories and Jewelry. Their caustic blood prevents invasive procedures.

Variable Installments
SampleNameDescription
Accessories Sometimes one has been given a token, but doesn't want to spend it on such an invasive or permanent a decoration as cyborware. In cases like these, installation facilities also have more standard accessories available: plain and spiked collars, bracelets, necklaces, charm/medal pendants, and arm/leg/tail/etc. bands are popular.

Generally, a Minor token can get you 1-4 of the above items.

You can request mix-and-match decorations and suggest your own ideas, too -- I will let you know if you're requesting too much for your token.

Tattoos Installers can make a permanent tattoo on a dragon of any color, whether the dragon is furred, scaled, skinned, or feathered ('ware tattoos are applied, believe it or not, by a special kind of laser rather than needle, and a laser can leave its mark on anything!).

Minor: Enough for 1-2 small tattoos (shoulder, face, forearm, etc).

Moderate: Enough for 1-2 limbs, or 3-5 small (Minor-class) tattoos. (Head and neck count as one 'limb', the torso counts as another, as does the tail.)

Major: Enough for the whole body (installer can use as little or as much ink as you want).

Unless you're requesting something very easy to describe, it's appreciated if you include a reference picture of the tattoo you want.

Custom Mods Got an idea for a mod that isn't listed here? Request it! I will let you know if your request exceeds your token(s).

Minor Installments
SampleNameDescription
Antennae Similar to the antennae found on deep-sea anglerfish, these bobbing, glowing globes hang from very thin wires. Unlike on anglerfish, they can be attached to any part of the body. Antennae come in packs of 1 or 2.
Claw Mods Don't have claws? Want them? Have claws? Want them longer? Sharper? Retractable? Colored? Claw modification can do just about anything!
Filigree Thin metal scrolling adhered to the skin, in multiple metal types (gold, silver, copper, etc.). Can be formed into all kinds of patterns.
Lumi-pads These pads are gel-like, containing luminescent solutions. They can be grafted over one's skin. The pads come in most colors, including multicolor. Lumi-pads come in packages of 1-6.
Lumi-wire Much like the luminescent pads, lumi-wiring can be grafted over one's skin. Coming in just about any color, the wiring is usually attached along arms, legs, or tails. Can be shaped into patterns. Looks best on darker-colored dragons.
Piercings Though not cyborware, most installers have the facilities to pierce customers with all kinds of things in all kinds of places. Piercings are done on a case-by-case basis when it comes to spending the entire token. 1-2 piercings can also be added to any normal order at no extra cost.
Spikes A person or dragon can have spikes grafted to their body. Usually attached to the forehead, shoulders, back or thighs, spikes come in everything from metallic studs, to 'natural' looking horns, to horns that glow like lumi-wire. 1-6 spikes can be purchased with one token.
Tooth Mods Ever wanted to sport a saber-tooth look? Or have metallic teeth like a xenomorph? Or have eyeteeth that glow bright blue when you grin? Then this is the kind of mod you're after! If you can suggest it, our installers can probably do it.

Moderate Installments

Cybornetic Eyes Have failing eye-sight? Or do you just want a new shade of iris? Eye-replacements and modifications come in all varieties. From the more common, dilating pupiled eye, to the draconic, opaline eye, if you want it, it can be installed.
Ear Mods Cyborware which specifically elongates the ear(s) (or adds a pair to those without external ears). These come in many variations, from synthetic 'elfin', to metallic extensions. These enhancements can be modeled after most forms of skin, scales, or fur.
NuCheveux Think permanent wigs...with a twist. Some NuCheveux hair-enhancements are very similar to bundles of fiber-optic cables in that they can emit and transmit various colors of light. Others come in 'classic' (that is, very much like a present-day wig), multi-colored packages. All packages come in various lengths.
NuPlume Fancy feathers? Then this is for you! NuPlume installments are the feathery equivalent of NuCheveux additions, and oftentimes even simpler: standard requests are for a feathery crest, or a pair of phoenix-like head- or tail-feathers.
Tail Mods For those who have tails already, modifications come in everything from NuCheveux-style ridges of fur, to fins, to spiny elongations, as well as a number of other options.

Major Installments
SampleNameDescription

Armor Plates formed of a very strong matrix of metalliod molecules, Armor is perfect for those who are at risk from injury -- either from on the job or by the life they live. Armor comes in anything from thin clear plates to more showy designs, and fits like a second skin -- literally. Whether skin-tight or otherwise, however, cyborware Armor is non-removable. While Armor is usually bought in full-body sets, the Major tokens given to dragons at birth are restricted to specialized packages:
  • Head & Neck
  • Body
  • Legs (front / back / all)
  • Tail
  • Wing-Arms
A single Major token can be exchanged for 1 or 2 of the above packages, allowing for some mix-and-match. A dragon determined to receive full-body plating can only get a light-plating suit of limited coverage (seen in the top thumbnail).
Cybornetic Limbs Standard: The basic, utilitarian model, these limb-replacements are all metal and plastic, usually tempered to meet every-day stresses. They function as well as a regular limb, though they aren't too pretty to look at.

Synthetic: A level up from the standard model, these are covered with synthetic skin, hair, and/or hide to match that of the owner. The limb functions as well as a natural one, and can only be told apart with a good deal of inspection.

Cosmetic: Want a leg growing out of your back, or perhaps a pair of novelty mini-wings? Cosmetic limbs are usually there only because 'they look cool', though sometimes they serve work purposes. Generally, this kind of limb is very fancy, what with glowing hairs, silver-gilt muscles, floating knick-knacks, and/or many other trinkets and add-ons.

If you request a whole new Cybornetic Limb, rather than a replacement, please be aware that the new limb may not blend perfectly with the original image, since I must draw the whole new limb overtop the existing dragon.

Cybornetic Tails Not necessarily a new 'limb', a tail none the less is a major extension of the spine. Tails come in all shapes, sizes, colors and teguments; some are prehensile, while others are simply for decorative purposes. Tails are sold singly.
Hoverpacks Whether they're plain torpedo-shapes or accompanied by glowing lights and ornamental holo-wings, hoverpacks are exactly for the purpose their name implies. They allow their owners to float anywhere from a few centimeters to a few feet above the ground -- or even fly.
(none)NuPeau Very much like NuCheveux, grafted NuPeau covers its owner in a coat of fur. On Destiny-born dragons, the NuPeau must match the dragon's original color(s).

If you request NuPeau, please be aware that the new fur may not blend perfectly with the original image, since I must draw the whole coat overtop the existing dragon. PLEASE do not request NuPeau if your dragon has a complex color-scheme!
