The tattooing of magical runes to one's skin is an ancient practice of the tychari, and Dritanys offers the chance to be so Rune-Branded to all creatures born on the Fate. Judging creatures against her own secret values, she gives them tiny charms that can be exchanged for the Rune-Brands she has decided to make available. Rune-Brands are not simply decorative. They are permanently magical, conferring upon their bearer abilities that may not be natural to them. The abilities these runes grant cannot be genetically passed on nor can they be copied by mages who do not know the tycharan secret. Rune-Brands can be placed anywhere on the body and in any color. Rune-Branding is also painful, so be prepared to endure the ritual. Fate-born creatures must return to the ship in order to claim their Charms. Dritanys will not have them delivered. |
