Biotheurgy Rules

Biotheurgy, as it is called, is a mostly-magical (though technology is still key) synthesis of organic tissue into new life. Given anything from an old bone to a fresh drop of blood, Dritanys can use the tissue as an ingredient towards a whole new clutch of creatures.

  1. Dritanys can Biotheurge offspring from almost any creature, pair, or group that cannot breed normally. This includes same-sex pairs, polygamous groups, and physically incompatible creatures. They cannot, however, combine species that are incompatible in "normal" breedings (i.e. Avengaean Asandae and Caetrae).
  2. Biotheurgy can be done on tissue samples of any origin--even stolen! Dritanys cares not where the Biotheurgy ingredients come from. The resulting eggs will be placed in a Cavern to hatch and bond/sponsor in the normal fashion. (This does not mean you can OOC-ly steal DNA from other people's dragons! This only means that, IC-ly in stories, that genetic samples can be stolen. Consider this a way to merge creatures who wouldn't normally volunteer, as well as plot-fodder if they ever find out!)
  3. Biotheurgy can be done on groups of 2 to 5 creatures. All the creatures must belong to you, the applicant, unless you have permission (and prove it) from the owner(s) of the other creature(s).
  4. Biotheurgy can also be done when a single creature has no other genetic samples to offer besides their own. In cases like these, Dritanys will use magic to duplicate the applicant's sample, often introducing physical traits the original creature does not have!
  5. All creatures must be adults to be involved in Biotheurgy. (This is in-story negotiable, but OOC-ly you must have officially received the adult image for your creature.)
  6. If your application is accepted, rather than a flight, you will be required to write a story in which the applicant(s) come to the Twisted Fate or otherwise express their desire to participate in Biotheurgy, be it a chat with a friend, a letter to their Weyrleader, or whatever! Your job is just to provide some sort of Prestory for the clutch. If there are certain traits the applicants hope to see in their offspring, make sure these preferences are described somehow.
  7. Creatures of all kinds and temperaments are allowed to apply for Biotheurgy. Dritanys has no moral inclination and would work on both demons and angels simultaneously if they came to her, with no care at all for the enmity between the two.
